Avoid needless capitalization:
- The Sophomore Journalism major should be:
- The sophomore journalism major
- A sophomore at the School of Journalism, she enjoyed J201 more than any other class.
- A sophomore at the school, she enjoyed J201 more than any other class.
- A sophomore in journalism, she enjoyed J201 more than any other class.
Most rules for grammar apply to style as well. Proper nouns, names and unique organizations or entities are capitalized. Check the stylebook for examples.
See Quoting for help on capitalization for direct quotes.
