How do I start online research?
Search engines:

- Power Searching for Anyone from Search Engine Watch lists dozens of ways to better use Web searches, including Googe. Be sure to click on "Search Engine Math" and "Boolean Searching" for additional help.

- News and current events links from IU Libraries. To access, go to IU libraries, Search by Subject, News and Current Events. You'll get a long list of links to archives such as the New York Times. Click on Access World News to find local and regional archives.
- Internet Public Library, organized by topic
- Newswise offers leads to recent stories from a variety of beats

How do I avoid copyright issues?
A survey found that 46 percent of college students' home pages contained copyright violations, from Homer Simpson images to Nike swooshes to music clips. Even though there is "fair use" under copyright laws, you should not "lift" any text or graphic from a site. Below are links that can clear up some of these issues for you:
